Telenor appoints Sharad Mehrotra as the new CEO
Telenor has appointed Sharad Mehrotra as its new chief executive officer (CEO) for the Indian operations. He succeeds Vivek Sood, who has now been appointed as the executive vice president and chief marketing officer of the Telenor Group. The company has said that both the appointments will become effective from November 2, 2015.
Mehrotra is currently working as the chief marketing officer (CMO) of Telenor Myanmar, where he played a key role in the successful launch of Telenor's mobile services in the country. Prior to joining Telenor Myanmar, Mehrotra served as the head of Telenor Group's Asia distribution programme driving regional synergies and scale. He also played a key role in the establishment of Uninor, as part of the management from 2008 to 2013. As CEO of Telenor India, Mehrotra will also be a member of Telenor Group's executive management.
Meanwhile, Sood in his new role will be responsible for strengthening Telenor Group’s ability to improve customer journeys, ensure continued innovation, and create value from digital data growth.
