Samsung Electronics appoints Hyun Chil Hong as the new president of its South West Asia headquarters
Samsung Electronics has appointed Hyun Chil Hong as the new president of its South West Asia headquarters, replacing B.D. Park. Under his new role based out of Gurgaon, India, Hong will lead all of Samsung Electronics’ business in South West Asian markets including India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. Prior to this appointment, Hong served as the president of Samsung Electronics-Latin America, a sales subsidiary in Central America for three years. Before that, he was heading Samsung’s sales subsidiaries in Chile.
Meanwhile, Park, who was the president of the company’s South West Asia operations since 2008, has been appointed as the head, sales and marketing for digital appliances business in South Korea. Park was the head for the mobile and IT division of Samsung India and was elevated to the position of president and chief executive officer, Samsung South West Asia in 2012.
