Aruna Sundarajan appointed as head of Bharat Broadband Network, USOF
Aruna Sundarajan has been appointed as the new head of Bharat Broadband Network Limited. In addition, she has been appointed as the administrator of the Universal Service Obligation (USO) fund, and will oversee telecom services rollout in rural areas. Sundarajan takes the place of the outgoing N Ravi Shanker, who has now been appointed as the Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand.
Sundarajan is a 1982-batch IAS officer of Kerala cadre. She has previously worked with the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation as a managing director. In her current role, she will be responsible for timely execution of the national optic fibre network (NOFN) project that envisages connecting 250,000 gram panchayats or village blocks across India through broadband.
