Vodafone India appoints P Balaji as the external affairs director
Vodafone India has appointed P Balaji as the external affairs director. Under this role, Balaji will look after both regulatory as well as external affairs, as the company has decided to combine the two roles. He will replace the current head for regulatory affairs, T V Ramachandran and external affairs director, Rohit Adya, who will exit the company in December 2014 and February 2015 respectively.
Prior to this appointment, Balaji was heading Nokia India. Balaji resigned from Nokia India in August, 2014 having overseen the transfer of the India devices business of Nokia to Microsoft. Before this, he was working under the role of Vice President (marketing and strategy) at Ericsson India.
Vodafone India’s previous resident director for regulatory affairs and government relations, Ramachandran had joined Vodafone in 2009 after having worked with the Cellular Operators Association of India.
Meanwhile, the previous external affairs director, Adya has been with the company since 2004. He had also held the post of chief executive of the company for a short tenure.
