Videocon Telecom posts revenues for the third quarter ended December 31, 2014

Videocon Telecom has reported a 34 per cent increase in revenue to Rs 4.89 billion for the third quarter ended December 31, 2014. Earlier, last year, the company had reported gross revenue of Rs 3.65 billion. The key growth driver for the company includes its GSM business, national long distance, international long distance and Punjab’s wireline business.

The GSM or mobile phone services revenue of the company increased from Rs 1.31 billion in the third quarter ended December 31, 2013 to Rs 2.02 billion in the corresponding quarter in 2014. Further, the data revenue of the operator grew by 113 per cent with a 30 per cent improvement in realisation per GB. For the quarter under review, Videocon Telecom’s minutes of usage increased by about 30 per cent and its subscriber base stood at 9 million across four circles.

Videocon Telecom has licences for mobile services in 7 service areas but at present operates only in 4 circles — Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. Early this month, the company also received pan-India licence for providing internet services.

Commenting on the financial results, Arvind Bali, director and chief executive officer, Videocon Telecom, said, “The year 2014-15 has been quite eventful and fulfilling for us. The company achieved 99 percent of the targeted gross revenue of Rs 20 billion and grew our top line by 53 per cent over previous financial year.”

Videocon Telecom is targeting revenue of Rs 30 billion in 2015-16.
