Dialog Telekom, Sri Lanka's largest mobile phone operator, run by Telekom Malaysia, will get a further Rs 150 million in investments from its parent company to strengthen its rapidly expanding network. The Sri Lankan unit of the Malaysian carrier will spend the funds over the next two years for expansion projects in its mobile, wireless in local loop, fixed line telephony, broadband, optic fibre backbone and international gateway infrastructures.
Dialog claims 2.3 million out of the 3 million mobile phone users in Sri Lanka. With the new announcements, Telekom Malaysia's investment in Sri Lanka has now reportedly reached $450 million.
