Vodafone India to launch 4G services by December 2015
Vodafone India has announced that it will launch its 4G services by end-2015. The operator will initially launch the services in Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Kochi. The operator has partnered with global technology infrastructure service providers for the network roll out and has commenced testing of the 4G services.
Vodafone India had acquired the 4G long term evolution (LTE) spectrum in five circles - Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Kerala and Karnataka in February 2014 auctions. These circles together contribute around 50 per cent of the total data revenues for Vodafone India. Further, the operator had installed 23,000 additional base transceiver stations (BTSs) in 2014-15.
Vodafone India is also planning to roll out 3G services in 7 circles - Assam, North East, UP (West), Rajasthan, Karnataka, Kerala and Odisha. With this, the operator will have 3G services in 16 circles across the country.
