According to Counterpoint Research, Samsung continued to lead the Indian smartphone market in the quarter ended June 2015 with a market share of 24.5 per cent on the back of encouraging response to its flagship devices - S6 and S6 edge. Micromax occupied the second position with a market share of 16.7 per cent.
Further, the research firm states that for the quarter ended June 2015 Intex, Lenovo and Lava occupied third, fourth and fifth position in the Indian handset market. For the period under review, Intex had a market share of 9.9 per cent, Lenovo (7.5 per cent) and Lava (5.3 per cent). Meanwhile, Xiaomi smartphone shipments increased sequentially during the quarter as the Chinese company became the third largest 4G smartphone vendor during the quarter owing to encouraging sales of Redmi 2 4G and Mi Note 4G. According to Counterpoint Research, Apple's iPhone shipments remained strong during the quarter ended June 2015, the vendor expanded its distribution reach through both online and offline channel.
