Nokia has introduced the Lumia 1020 smartphone, which functions on the Microsoft Windows Phone 8 operating system (OS). The device has a 4.5 inch screen and is powered by the Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon processor. The Lumia 1020 packs in 2 GB RAM, 32 GB of internal storage and dual cameras (a 38 megapixel rear camera and a 1.2 megapixel front camera). The smartphone also supports Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and is priced at Rs 49,999.

Sony has introduced the Sony Xperia C smartphone. The device is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor and functions on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS. The Sony Xperia C has a 5 inch screen, 1 GB RAM and 4 GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 32 GB. The device supports dual SIM cards and cameras (an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 0.3 megapixel front camera). The Sony Xperia C is priced at Rs 21,490.

ZTE has launched the ZTE Open device, which functions on the Firefox OS. It is currently available on eBay India for Rs 8,590. The smartphone packs in a 3.5 inch screen, a single-core 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 256 MB RAM, 512 MB of expandable storage and a 3.2 megapixel rear camera.

Samsung has introduced two smartphones – the Galaxy Trend and the Galaxy Star Pro. The devices support nine regional languages – Hindi, Bengali, Punjabi, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil. Both the Galaxy Trend and the Galaxy Star Pro have a 4 inch screen and are powered by a 1 GHz single-core processor. The smartphones have 512 MB RAM and 4 GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 32 GB, and support dual SIM cards. The Galaxy Trend offers a 3 megapixel camera, whereas the Galaxy Star Pro supports a 2 megapixel camera. The Galaxy Trend and the Galaxy Star Pro smartphone are priced at Rs 8,290 and Rs 6,750 respectively.

S  Mobility Limited has introduced the Spice Pinnacle Stylus smartphone, which functions on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS. The smartphone has a 5.5 inch screen and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. The Spice Pinnacle Stylus has 1 GB RAM and 8 GB of internal memory, expandable up to 32 GB; and supports dual SIM cards and cameras (an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front camera). The smartphone also supports technologies such as EDGE, the global positioning system (GPS), Bluetooth, 3G and Wi-Fi. The Spice Pinnacle Stylus is priced at Rs 15,999.

HTC has launched the Desire 500 smartphone, which functions on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS. The smartphone has a 4.3 inch screen and is powered by a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 quad-core processor. The Desire 500 packs in 1 GB RAM and 4 GB of internal storage, expandable up to 64 GB. The smartphone supports dual cameras (an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 1.6 megapixel front camera), and is priced at Rs 24,290.

Dell has introduced the Venue 7 tablet, which operates on the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS. The tablet has a 7 inch screen and is powered by a 2 GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2760 (Clover Trail) processor. The Venue 7 features dual cameras and will be available in two variants – Wi-Fi-only and 4G.

HTC has launched the One mini smartphone in India. The smartphone has a 4.3 inch screen and is powered by a 1.4 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and functions on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS. The One mini packs in 1 GB RAM and 16 GB of internal storage; and supports dual cameras (a 4 UltraPixel rear camera and a 1.6 megapixel front camera). The device is priced at Rs 35,000.

Gionee has introduced the Elife E6 smartphone. The device is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor and functions on the Android 4.2 Jellybean OS. The Elife E6 has a 5 inch screen, 2 GB RAM, 32 GB of internal storage and dual cameras (a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera). The smartphone is priced at Rs 22,999.

Celkon has introduced the AR45 smartphone, which functions on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS. The smartphone has a 4.5 inch screen and is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Cortex A7 MediaTek processor. The AR45 features 512 MB RAM and 4 GB of internal storage, expandable up to 32 GB. It also supports dual SIM cards and cameras (a 5 megapixel rear camera and a VGA front camera). The smartphone is priced at Rs 7,999.

LG has introduced the G2 smartphone. The device functions on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS, has a 5.2 inch screen and is powered by a 2.26 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. The G2 packs in 2 GB RAM and 16 GB of internal memory, which is expandable up to 32 GB. It also has dual cameras (a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 2.1 megapixel front camera).

Intex has launched the Aqua HD smartphone. The device functions on the Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean OS and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. The Aqua HD has a 4.7 inch screen, 1 GB RAM and 4 GB of internal memory, expandable up to 32 GB. The device supports dual SIM cards and cameras (a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera). The Aqua HD is priced at Rs 15,900.

Panasonic has introduced the P11 smartphone, which functions on the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS and is priced at Rs 16,490. The smartphone has a 5 inch screen and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon T 200 processor. The P11 features 1 GB RAM and 4 GB of internal storage, expandable up to 32 GB, an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front camera. The smartphone also supports dual SIM cards and technologies such as GPS, Bluetooth 2.1 and Wi-Fi.

DataWind has launched three tablets, the UbiSlate 7Cx, 9Ci and 3G7, priced at Rs 3,999, Rs 4,999 and Rs 6,999 respectively. The tablets come preloaded with applications such as the e-Book reader for students, which features the syllabus prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training. The tablets also support music and movie content along with MapMyIndia’s navigation tool.

Services

Bharti Airtel has partnered with Vuclip for its Re 1 Entertainment Store. As per the terms of the agreement, Vuclip will be responsible for the technology, product, analytics and content aggregation engine for the video section of Airtel’s entertainment store.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has reduced tariffs for ISD calls by 75 per cent. The operator has introduced special tariff vouchers (STVs) for various countries, thereby offering its users lower tariffs for making international calls to France, Germany, the UK, the US, Canada and Singapore. The operator has introduced STVs from Rs 23 to Rs 41 for prepaid customers, whereas post-paid users will have to pay a fixed monthly charge (FMC) of Rs 20 to Rs 40 to avail of lower tariffs. Customers recharging with the Rs 41 STV will be charged Rs 1.49 per minute for making calls to countries like the US, Canada and Singapore. Post-paid customers can avail of the same offer by paying an FMC of Rs 40. Text messages under the offer are priced at Rs 3 for both prepaid and post-paid users. Under the STV priced at Rs 38, customers will be charged Rs 4.49 per minute for calls to countries such as France, Germany and the UK. Post-paid users will have to pay an FMC of Rs 35 for availing of similar benefits. Under the third STV, priced at Rs 27, prepaid users will be charged Rs 2.99 per minute for making calls to countries like Bangladesh, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Thailand, while calls to Australia will be priced at Rs 6.49 per minute. Post-paid subscribers will have to pay an FMC of Rs 23 to avail of the tariff under the STV. Text messages under the STV are priced at Rs 3 per SMS.

Bharti Airtel has introduced the Airtel myPlan offer, which allows subscribers to customise their post-paid plan based on their usage pattern. Subscribers can customise their talk plan by choosing from five offerings. In addition, they can select and combine one or two predecided myPack units. Customers can further top up their plan with myBoosters to avail of additional benefits.

Uninor has introduced the STV 17 prepaid voucher for subscribers in Andhra Pradesh. Under the plan, subscribers will be charged Re 0.25 per minute for all calls. The recharge coupon is priced at Rs 29 and is valid for 28 days.

Reliance Communications has introduced the Awesome America Pack for GSM customers travelling to the US. The pack is priced at Rs 849 and is valid for 30 days. Customers will be charged Rs 40 per minute for all calls. Subscribers can also use data services at Rs 10 per MB.

Bharti Airtel is offering subscribers free roaming on incoming calls in Assam and the Northeast. Users will be charged Re 1 per minute for each call while roaming. All STD calls will be charged Rs 1.50 per minute. Further, for local and national SMSs, users will be charged Re 1 and Rs 1.50 per SMS respectively.

TATA DOCOMO has introduced the RC 499 recharge coupon for prepaid subscribers in Kerala. The recharge coupon is priced at Rs 499 and offers talktime worth Rs 500 along with 2 GB of 3G data for 60 days.
