Agilent Technologies extends frequency range and enhances scan speed of standards-compliant MXE EMI Receiver
Agilent Technologies Inc. has introduced two new options for its MXE X-Series electromagnetic interference receiver: 44-GHz frequency range and time-domain scans.
With the addition of these capabilities, the MXE will help telecom industry comply with electromagnetic compliance (EMC) testing. Configured with 44-GHz frequency coverage, the MXE is a single instrument which meets the requirements for compliance testing according to standards such as MIL-STD-461F and FCC Part 15. The extended frequency range also extends to the MXE family’s powerful diagnostic capabilities, which can be used to identify the sources of unwanted emissions.
Time-domain scans significantly reduce the time needed to create a list of suspect emissions prior to final measurements. This capability is becoming widely used in the automotive industry. “The upgradeable MXE provides the functionality and reliability needed to keep EMC test queues flowing in military and commercial applications,” said Andy Botka, vice president and general manager, Agilent’s Microwave Communications Division.
Key features of the product:
Monitor spectrum: This feature adds live-spectrum and meter displays that make it easier to characterize signals and identify the frequency of peak emissions prior to a final measurement.
Amplitude probability distribution: By adding APD, which will be included in the upcoming CISPR 11 standard, Agilent is making it possible for users to become familiar with APD measurements in advance of the standard, which is expected to be released in the summer of 2014.
Control for external line impedance stabilization networks: This feature enables users to control switching functions in two commercially available LISN transducers. These are used in compliance measurements of conducted emissions according to commercial and military standards.
The N9038A-544, frequency range 20 GHz to 44 GHz is available for $136,700 and N9038A-TDS, time-domain scan is priced at $8,600
