Vodafone India has stated that there will be significant reduction in the incidence of call drops on its network in the Delhi and National Capital Territory (NCR) regions within the next 3-4 months.

The operator has stated that it has invested around Rs 3.5 billion to modernise and upgrade the existing voice and data network in the Delhi circle in order to resolve the issue of call drops. It has added more than 500 base transceiver stations (BTSs) in Delhi and NCR and has augmented the capacity of 550 existing BTSs since April 2015.  It is also conducting regular drive tests to assess the quality of its network.

Vodafone has a total of 12,322 BTSs (6,190 for 2G and 6,170 for 3G) to provide services to nearly 9.8 million subscribers in the Delhi NCR region. Meanwhile, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had recently observed that there was no significant improvement in the call drops situation in the Mumbai and Delhi circles as operators were still lagging on various fronts in meeting the network quality standards.
