October 12, 2015
Videocon Telecom has stated that it is in discussions with operators including Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India, Telenor India and Idea Cellular for selling its spectrum in its six operational circles. The move is aimed at reducing the company’s debt, which is reported to be Rs 410 billion (Gross debt).
The decision to sell spectrum comes after the government recently approved spectrum trading guidelines. Videocon has valued its spectrum holdings in six circles at Rs 120 billion, which it claims to be the base price. According to reports, the company may continue operation in the Punjab circle, where earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation is positive.
