VSNL to invest $230 million to develop and operate NLD and fixed wireless network in South Africa
December 15, 2005
VSNL is proposing to invest over $230 million over the next three years to develop and operate NLD and fixed wireless networks in South Africa. The services, which would be operated through South Africa's Second Network Operator, are expected to go onstream by the first quarter of next year. Tata South Africa Holdings SA, the investment arm of the Tata Group in South Africa, will spearhead the operations. The foray will provide VSNL access to the South African market, which has been dominated by monopoly player Telekom.
