The Ministry of Finance has opposed DoT's proposal to waive the licence fees for landline services. The proposal, which was to be implemented from January 2009, would have resulted in annual savings of over Rs 50 billion. However, the ministry does not want to extend more concessions to operators as it might result in revenue losses for the exchequer.
