Bharti Airtel has called off the proposed $24 billion deal for amalgamation with South Africa's MTN after nearly four-month-long discussions. According to Bharti Airtel, the deal structure needed approval from the South African government, which expressed its inability to accept the terms in the current form. The South African government demanded dual listing of MTN, which is not allowed in the Indian regulatory framework.
