Bharti Airtel has entered into 15-year agreements with 23 global voice and data carriers including Australia's Telstra and UK-based Cable & Wireless, for the use of Airtel's submarine cable network to route their India traffic. These carriers will link with Airtel's undersea cable network hubs in London and Singapore. This will do away with the need for these companies to acquire international long distance (ILD) licences in India and roll out networks in the country. Meanwhile, according to the terms of the deal, Airtel will be able to use the undersea cable network of all these carriers.
