In response to TRAI's consultation paper on mobile value-added services (VAS), the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) has sought a level playing field between telecom operators and VAS companies. According to IAMAI, there should be some additional obligations on the current licensees in terms of maintaining a level playing field. Among other suggestions, IAMAI has asked for a faster process for obtaining short codes, standardisation of the terms and conditions of access and interconnection, and a transparent revenue-sharing model between operators and VAS players.
