DoT is considering a proposal to provide subsidies from the Universal Service Obligation (USO) Fund to companies using solar or biogas power for running rural telecom infrastructure. The subsidy will be effective for Phase II of the USO Fund's infrastructure project which includes setting up 11,000 towers.
