Huawei undertaking a $12.5 million project to upgrade the fixed line network of Uzbektelecom

China's Huawei Technologies is undertaking a $12.5 million project to upgrade the fixed line network of Uzbekistan's national telecommunications company, Uzbektelecom. Huawei is converting 250,000 lines in six regions of Uzbekistan from analog to digital. The project is to be implemented in 18 months. China's Eximbank has provided an $8 million 15-year loan to Uzbektelecom to finance the project.
