The COAI and CDMA operators are reportedly involved in a con troversy over the issue of spectrum in the eGSM band.
According to COAI, CDMA operators should not be issued spectrum in this particular band for the deployment of GSM services as the band has been earmarked for CDMA operations in India. The eGSM band includes radio frequencies of 880-890 MHz paired with 925-935 MHz. Reliance Communications (RCOM) had reportedly approached DoT, offering to swap its GSM spectrum in the 1800 MHz band in return for spectrum in the eGSM band. This triggered the controversy.
