TRAI has directed all service providers to make available intercon nections to operators seeking the facility within 90 days of receipt of payment.

News , June 15, 2005

TRAI has directed all service providers to make available interconnections to operators seeking the facility within 90 days of receipt of payment. The regulator has also asked service providers to furnish a compliance report by July 10, and thereafter on a quarterly basis by the 10th of every month. TRAI says that it has been forced to adopt this measure as some service providers had either denied interconnection or were unnecessarily delaying requests for the same. Lack of interconnection between networks results in noncompletion of calls, disruption of service and inconvenience to subscribers of both operators.
