In a move to improve its intra-region signalling connectivity in Asia, Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL) will set up two signalling transfer points (STPs). The STPs, to be located in Delhi and Mumbai, will be integrated with VSNL's global SS7/C7 network, which connects local telecom companies with cellular and long distance networks worldwide. The new STPs will enable Asianmobile operators to connect locally, and utilise VSNL's signalling connect control part service to transport roaming and SMS traffic throughout the globe. The company currently has six STPs spanning three continents and covering over 630 mobile operators across 225 countries.
