Idea Cellular has joined the Asia Mobility Initiative (AMI) alliance comprising five GSM mobile operators in the Asia-Pacific region – Malaysia's Celcom, Singapore's MobileOne, Indonesia's Excelcomindo, Australia's Telstra and Thailand's DTAC. The move will enable Idea Cellular to offer seamless connectivity to its roaming subscribers in Asia using the networks of other AMI members. However, there will be no reduction in Idea's roaming rates.
