TRAI order asking VSNL to co-locate its client's routers on its premises

News , May 15, 2005

VSNL has responded to the TRAI order asking VSNL to co-locate its client's routers on its premises. It has requested the regulator to provide a level playing field as it fears that its customers will churn to other service providers if this order is implemented. The company has also pointed out that TRAI has not issued similar orders to other internet service providers (ISPs) and international long distance operators (ILDOs), which may result in its customers migrating to other service providers. TRAI had earlier cited security concerns and had sought co-location of routers to monitor data and bandwidth usage. VSNL has implemented this for all its new customers but has not been able to do the same for its existing customers.
