DoT has issued show-cause notices to BSNL and Bharti Airtel for offering cellular connections without proper verification.

According to a survey conducted by DoT, about 3 per cent of BSNL's customers in the Chennai circle were issued connections without proper verification. A similar sample survey of Bharti Airtel's Andhra Pradesh circle showed that about 50 per cent customers had not been properly verified.
