Idea Cellular has signed a 10-year, $600-$800 million deal with IBM to integrate and transform the former's business processes and IT infrastructure. The deal, designed on a revenue-share model, will reduce the time-to-market and allow Idea to leverage opportunities from the convergence of voice, data, video and wireless technologies. Outsourcing IT management will also reduce Idea's operational costs. Meanwhile, the company may hive off its GSM towers and other passive infrastructure business in order to monetise its assets and focus on its core business.
