DoT's Wireless Planning and Coordination (WPC) wing is yet to allocate dradio frequency in the 1900 MHz band, which is used for trials for CDMA-based 3G services. This is likely to delay 3G services for CDMA subscribers. However, DoT has allocated spectrum for 3G trials to seven GSM-based operators including Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular as well as HEL. Meanwhile, some government officials have suggested that long-term spectrum allocation planning should be done through the public-private partnership route.
