DoT's Wireless Planning and Coordination (WPC) wing has still not allocated radio frequency in the 1900 MHz band to CDMA operators for conducting trials for 3G services. This could delay 3G services for CDMA subscribers. However, DoT has allocated spectrum for 3G trials to seven GSM operators including Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular and Hutchison Essar. Meanwhile, BSNL has also complained to DoT that the WPC has not allocated additional spectrum to it for GSM and 3G services, although it is eligible for the same under the current norms.
