News , February 15, 2007

ISPs have urged the government to consider connecting traffic I from all countries of the South Asian Association for RegionalCooperation (SAARC) to the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) platform. The move will enable the SAARC region to save 50 per cent of its international bandwidth. This move could reduce the cost of bandwidth and broadband. The ISPs have also recommended that major content providers and data centres should be mandated to connect to NIXI so that the domestic traffic remains within the country.
