Despite instructions from security agencies, the government is reportedly against the banning of incoming international calls in which caller line identification (CLI) is not displayed.

Consequently, DoT has asked international long distance (ILD) players such as Reliance Communications Limited (RCL), Bharti Airtel and Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL) to continue the existing procedure until it can devise a new mechanism. TRAI had earlier stated that incognito blocking of incoming ILD calls would result in non-completion of many calls from several countries.
