The government has taken note of the 47.55 per cent composite foreign holding in Idea Cellular and has allowed it to increase this to 74 per cent. It has also permitted foreign institutional investors and overseas venture capital funds to invest in Idea's upcoming Rs 25 billion initial public offering (IPO).
