Delhi High Court asks municipal corporations to de-seal mobile towers

News , October 12, 2015

The Delhi High Court has asked the three municipal corporations to immediately de-seal the mobile towers for which cellular operators have obtained valid licenses. The direction was issued on an application moved by a telecom company and the Cellular Operators Association of India which claimed that around 130 of the mobile towers have been wrongly sealed by the three corporations.

Further, the High Court has issued notice to the corporations and sought their replies by November 6, 2015 on the application by the cellular operators who complained that they face a range of problems including complaints of call drops because their towers have remained sealed despite payment of license fee.

Earlier, the corporations had defended their move to seal the towers, stating that only once the show-cause notices sent to the telecom companies went unheeded that the agencies stepped in to seal the towers.
