Taiwan-based smartphone manufacturer Asustek Computers has partnered with Foxconn to set up a manufacturing unit for smartphones at Sri City in Andhra Pradesh under a contract manufacturing model. Asus plans to take its manufacturing capacity to 150,000 units of smartphones per month by March 2016, which is expected to account for about 80 per cent of the company’s sales in India.
Asus is targeting to grab a five per cent share in the Indian market by end-2016, along with revenue of $200 million by December 2015.
