Microsoft launches three data centres in India

September 29, 2015

Microsoft has launched three commercial data centres in India which will offer the company’s Azure cloud services. The centres are located at Pune, Chennai and Mumbai.

According to the company, millions of users already use Microsoft cloud services but with the availability of local cloud services, regulated industries such as banking and financial institutions, government departments and state owned enterprises will now be able to take advantage of the public cloud services.

Microsoft has pegged the cloud opportunity in the country at around $2 trillion. The company has also received significant response from over 125 customers in the government departments, e-commerce organisations and startups in an early preview programme that allowed customers to take a look at the services that will be offered by Microsoft.
