Idea Cellular to launch 4G services in the Kerala circle in early 2016

Idea Cellular is planning to launch 4G services in the Kerala circle in early 2016. The company has made an investment of Rs 5 billion in form of spectrum payments and for improving infrastructure before the launch of 4G services in the state.

It is planning to add 4,200 base transceiver stations (BTS) in the state in 2015-16 to take its total cell sites to 15,000. This will enhance the experience on its 2G, 3G and 4G networks. The company has a subscriber base of 10 million in the state.

According to Idea, its market share in the state grew by over 2.2 per cent to reach 34.7 per cent in the quarter ended June 2015. The company is also planning to expand its outlets to more than 500 stores across the state, to encourage adoption of its services.
