Gionee partners with Foxconn and Dixon to manufacture smartphones in India
China-based smartphone manufacturer Gionee has partnered with Taiwan-based contract manufacturer Foxconn and Noida-based Dixon Technologies to manufacture smartphones in India. To this end, Gionee will invest Rs 3.3 billion in the country.
Foxconn and Dixon will begin manufacturing Gionee smartphones at their facilities in Sri City (Andhra Pradesh) and Noida respectively from mid-October 2015. As per the agreement, Foxconn will manufacture Gionee's F series and P series of smartphones while Dixon will manufacture the other smartphones as well as feature phones.
Gionee is also planning to focus more on its research and development team in India which will work on the company’s user interface, Amigo to make it much more customised for Indian consumers.
