The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has directed telecom operators to resolve the issue of call drops within 15 days. The telecom regulator further contended that it may take the necessary action if the issue is not resolved. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Communications and IT has stated that it is not considering penalising operators, but cannot rule out such an action if the situation does not improve.
The telecom regulator intends to carry out a test drive after 15 days in Mumbai and Delhi so as to assess the situation. TRAI also stated that it will work with the concerned authorities and create awareness to dispel the concerns related to electromagnetic field radiations emanating from telecom towers. Further, it contended that the ministry has already permitted operators to set up tower sites at the government buildings.
