The Ministry of Communications and IT has stated that it will help all the telecom operators to improve the quality of services (QoS). In this regard, the government has asked DoT to resolve the issue of sealing of telecom towers between the operators and municipal corporations of Delhi. Operators have reportedly alleged that the corporations have illegally sealed over 70 tower sites in Delhi despite the Delhi High Court giving a restraining order on the matter. The operators had also attributed the civic bodies’ high rental charges and the radiation concerns from telecom towers for the rising instances of call drops.
Meanwhile, the ministry has also sought recommendations from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India on the creation of a framework that would require service providers to disclose information of the capacity of their network. This will allow customers to know which operator has the capacity to accommodate more customers without constraining the QoS.
