New Call Telecom in discussions with 12 Indian companies for possible acquisition

September 04, 2015

UK-based New Call Telecom is under discussions with 12 Indian companies, which includes 3-4 companies in the northeastern region for possible acquisition. This comes in line with the company’s strategy to expand its presence in India. Earlier in August 2015, the New Call Telecom had announced that it would invest $ 100 million over the next 18 months to acquire mid-sized firms to expand its presence in the Indian broadband and value-added services market.

The company is planning to set-up Wi-Fi infrastructure in the northeastern region, to address the connectivity issues. These Wi-Fi hotspots would be set up in airports, railway stations, shopping malls, offices and important tourist locations. The company also plans to create direct jobs for around 500 people in the region, particularly in Assam and Manipur.

Apart from this, New Call Telecom is planning to launch a $50 million India-centric fund to promote entrepreneurs and startup companies. The fund will be managed by firm's parent New Sparta.
