Bharti Airtel awards 3G and 4G network rollout contracts to Ericsson

Bharti Airtel has awarded a four-year contract to Ericsson to roll out its 4G network in the five circles including Delhi. Meanwhile, the operator has also awarded a contract to Ericsson for the expansion of its 3G network in eight circles across the country. In addition, Ericsson will provide operational and maintenance services.
As per the contract, Ericsson will set up 4G network using long term evolution-frequency division duplex (LTE-FDD) technology. Meanwhile, 3G network will be deployed for spectrum in both the 900 MHz and 2100 MHz bands. Ericsson will augment 3G network coverage in five circles and set up 3G network in three circles.
