The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is soon likely to direct telecom operators to furnish details on call drops. This comes after the government asked the telecom regulator to seek information on the matter. Earlier, the Department of Telecommunications had warned that the government has an option of penalising operators under the licence conditions for not being able to address the call drops issue.
The information submitted by the operators will be disclosed to the public, which will enable the customers to make an informed choice with regards to selecting their service providers. Meanwhile, TRAI is preparing a report that will provide a detailed analysis of the extent of call drops on the basis of data available. This report will be subsequently published in the public domain.
