According to the data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for the quarter ended June 2015, the telecom sector's adjusted gross revenues registered a growth of 13.2 per cent on a year-on-year basis. This was largely driven by the growth in data services.
Bharti Airtel accounted for the highest incremental revenue share of 34 per cent for the quarter ended June 2015 compared to 33.3 per cent for the corresponding quarter in 2014. The operator’s market share for 2014-15 stood at 34.4 per cent. Idea Cellular's incremental revenue share increased to 32.8 per cent from 22.5 per cent during the same period. The operator had a revenue share of 29.3 per cent in 2014-15. Vodafone India's incremental revenue share growth remained constant at 24.7 per cent on a year-on-year basis. Data revenues of the three operators grew by 70 per cent on year-on-year basis. Bharti Airtel’s data revenue market share stood at 44.6 per cent during the quarter ended June 2015.
Tata Teleservices accounted for 7 per cent of the total market revenues for the quarter ended June 2015. Aircel's market share declined from 7.2 per cent for the quarter ended March 2015 to 6.9 per cent for the quarter ended June 2015. Meanwhile, Uninor, registered marginal gains in revenue share from 5.8 per cent for the quarter ended March 2015 to 5.9 per cent for the quarter ended June 2015.
