Sterlite Technologies to recast its telecom services and solutions business into a separate vertical
Sterlite Technologies has hired global management consultancy firm Hay Group to recast its new telecom services and solutions business into a separate vertical as it expects growth opportunities in the sector over the next few years.
The company which so far has been focused on optical fibre business in the telecom sector; is now looking forward to capitalise on the government’s ‘Digital India’ and ‘100 smart cities’ initiatives, besides the launch of 4G services in the country.
At present, Sterlite Technologies has three verticals - telecom products and solutions, power products and solutions, and power transmission. The company is in the process of spinning off the power verticals to become a pure play telecom player. Hay Group will help the company streamline its services and solutions business.
The services business accounted for 15 per cent of Rs 4 billion revenue reported by Sterlite Technologies from telecom business in the quarter ended June 2015 as against nil in the year-ago quarter. The company has now put in a 50-member team on the services side, which is working towards execution of the existing order book as well as targeting new business opportunities.
