Bharti Airtel to launch 4G services in the North Eastern region, excluding Assam
Bharti Airtel is planning to launch its 4G services in the North Eastern region, excluding Assam within the next two-three months. The company started service testing in May 2015 to ensure that the customers do not face any issue once the facility is introduced.
The company had procured 4G spectrum in the Assam circle in the March 2015 auctions. Thus, the roll out obligations, pertaining to the broadband wireless access (BWA) spectrum acquired in 2010, are not valid for this spectrum. The operator therefore can take more time to roll out services in this circle.
The company has a customer base of 9 million and 40 per cent market share in the North East region. Further, the region accounted for revenues of Rs 20 billion in 2014-15.
