Indus Towers to expand its footprint in south Karnataka region

Telecom infrastructure provider Indus Towers is planning to expand its footprint in south Karnataka region by adding more towers during 2015-16. The company has nearly 400 towers in the state of which 50 per cent are on the Mysuru-Mangaluru region. The company plans to erect a similar number of towers in the region during the current year.

According to the company, it had 10,296 tower sites as on end-March 2015, up from nearly 6,900 sites during 2008-09 thus registering a growth of 47 per cent over five years.

Meanwhile, its focus on battery solutions as an alternative to diesel generators has helped reduce its carbon footprint significantly. It has been able to reduce its diesel consumption by 7 million litres during 2014-15 which is a reduction of around 30 per cent over the diesel consumed in 2013-14.
