Government invites applications for the post of TRAI’s Chairperson
The Government of India (GoI) has invited applications for the post of Chairperson for the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
The telecom regulatory authority’s incumbent chairperson, Dr Rahul Khullar is due to retire in May 2015. Khullar took over as TRAI's Chairman on May 14, 2012 after taking early retirement as Commerce Secretary, GoI. As Chairman, TRAI, Khullar has been successful in implementing long-pending refund rules for value-added services and other recommendations such as inter usage charge of telecom operators, full number portability and carriage charges.
As per the government rules, an existing government employee will have to retire from the post before joining as TRAI Chairperson. The tenure of post is for a term not exceeding three years or till the age of 65 years.
The last date for the submission of applications is April 9, 2015.
