COAI opposes TTSL's proposal on 2G spectrum pricing
December 15, 2006
According to the COAI, TTSL's proposal to price the additional spectrum required for 2G mobile services is "ill-conceived, incorrect and harmful". The Tatas had recommended that the government should charge for additional 2G spectrum allocated to mobile operators, beyond 10 MHz for GSM operators and beyond 5 MHz for CDMA operators, at half the rate of 3G spectrum. They also recommended that 2G spectrum should be offered in blocks, with each operator entitled to occupy only one block.
