BSNL’s dues against private operators stood at Rs 12.06 billion as on March 31, 2014

News , August 08, 2014

The Ministry of Communications and IT has stated that the outstanding dues for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) against private operators stood at Rs 12.06 billion as on March 31, 2014. Of this amount, Rs 10.53 billion is under dispute.  Further, out of the total dues amount, Rs 472.1 million has been realised up to June 30, 2014.

The ministry has stated that the reason for outstanding dues and non- realisation of payments include mismatch of call detail records (CDR) of BSNL and private operators, disputes arising due to trunk groups violation, where higher rate of inter-usage charges (IUC) is applicable and short payments made by operators.

BSNL has taken various steps to recover the outstanding dues which include reconciliation of disputes arising out of CDR mismatch and IUC rates, adjusting outstanding dues from IUC payable to private operators and encashment of bank guarantee of private operators.
