HFCL applies for GSM licence in Punjab

News , August 15, 2006

CDMA operator HFCL has applied for GSM spectrum in 1800 MHz band to offer services in Punjab. It will reportedly not surrender any CDMA spectrum for exiting from CDMA-based mobile services. The company has reportedly decided to migrate because the infrastructural costs of GSM are low compared to CDMA.

However, the company plans to continue offering fixed wireless services based on CDMA.
