Plans to lower the roaming fees paid by EU mobile phone operators within the EU are in doubt after splits emerged in Brussels about the damage this could cause to the telecommunications companies. Mobile phone operators are estimated to make 10-15 per cent profits from "roaming" charges. However, EU leaders supported lowering of the "roaming" fees as a way of breaking down Europe's internal borders.
